Converse have reworked their signature Jack Purcell model with a ‘70s inspired wide wale cotton corduroy upper to offer a retro style aesthetic that incorporates signature features. Seen here in a surplus olive colourway, these Converse JP Ox Wide Wale Cord Shoes have a court classic look with a bright white rubber outsole and a black ‘smile’ insert around the front of the toes. The traditional lacing system ensures a secure fit with flat bright white cotton laces than sit upon a slim tongue, cut from the same cotton corduroy and two silver metal eyelets have been added onto the inner side panels for ventilation. On the back of the heel Converse x Jack Purcell branding has been printed in black, whilst around the front of the toes an additional textured panel of rubber increases the durability of the style in a high stress area.
Designed for everyday wear, an OrthoLite insole has been added to this style for support and a herringbone tread pattern supplies ample grip when worn across a variety of terrains. Introduced to the Converse range during the 1970’s, Jack Purcell first designed his signature footwear style for the B.F Goodrich Company of Canada in 1935 with an aim to design a shoe that provided protection and support for wear during games of badminton. Following the purchase of the designs trademarks, Converse continue to experiment with a variety of fabrics for each season whilst remaining true to original features.
